ConfigureDefender is a part of the Hard_Configurator project. Its code is included in the Hard_Configurator source code.
However, the source code is only for the older version of Hard_Configurator.

ConfigureDefender is digitally signed, so the source code is optional. However, I keep it if someone is interested in the basics of how H_C works.
The backup file is a completely different topic. It can be stored as a password-protected file. This is a precaution because, in theory, the attacker could silently change their content. The password is chosen by the user.
