When using alternative file managers like Q-Dir (which utilize a dual-panel layout), relying strictly on the Spacebar shortcut to trigger QuickLook does not always work smoothly or seamlessly depending on the active window focus.
Previously, users could bypass this by manually adding a custom registry key (HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT*\shell\PreviewWithQuickLook) pointing to the executable. However, recent updates (especially with the Microsoft Store / UWP version and changes in Windows paths/permissions) have broken these manual registry workarounds, throwing errors like "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file".
Please consider adding a native right-click context menu option ("Preview with QuickLook") directly integrated into the application by default.
Having a context menu entry would allow users to trigger previews using the mouse right-click. This is extremely helpful for:
- Users of alternative file managers (like Q-Dir or Total Commander) where global keyboard hooks might fail or conflict.
- Accessibility or mouse-driven workflows where pressing the Spacebar isn't convenient.
A native implementation would handle Microsoft Store sandboxed paths / dynamic package family names automatically, avoiding the broken paths that occur with hardcoded manual registry entries after app updates.
