Issue when executing moveit2_tutorial with ROS2 jazzy

Hi,

I have tried to install ROS2 jazzy with moveit2 and moveit2_tutorial.

"[ERROR] [launch]: Caught exception in launch (see debug for traceback): Caught multiple exceptions when trying to load file of format [py]:

• XacroException: Invalid parameter "mock_sensor_commands"
• InvalidFrontendLaunchFileError: The launch file may have a syntax error, or its format is unknown"

Seems like jazzy is not compatible with moveit2_tutorial package. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

yes i am also facing same issue its clear that moveit tutorials is not yet build for jazzy as there is no such jazzy breach we can find .

Unfortunately the tutorials might have been in a broken state for a while. Some people including myself are trying to address it in #1104 #1102

As for branching, we decided that making main compatible with ROS jazzy #1033 (comment)
The work to make jazzy smoother is still in progress.

I hit the same issue on ROS 2 Jazzy / Ubuntu 24.04.

The root cause in my setup appears to be a version mismatch between the released Jazzy packages:

ros-jazzy-kortex-description: 0.2.6-1noble.20260615.175846
ros-jazzy-robotiq-description: 0.0.1-3noble.20260615.175624

kortex_description/grippers/robotiq_2f_85/urdf/robotiq_2f_85_macro.xacro calls xacro:robotiq_gripper with:

mock_sensor_commands="${fake_sensor_commands}"

However, the released robotiq_description package on Jazzy does not include mock_sensor_commands in the robotiq_gripper macro parameters, which results in:

XacroException: Invalid parameter "mock_sensor_commands"

I worked around the issue by building the current Robotiq source in my MoveIt workspace so that it overlays the /opt/ros/jazzy package. The newer robotiq_description macro includes mock_sensor_commands, and the MoveIt tutorial launches successfully afterward.

So this looks like an incompatibility between the currently released Jazzy versions of kortex_description and robotiq_description.
