DRM Implementation - Phase 1 Complete

✅ Completed Deliverables

Successfully implemented Phase 1 & 2 of the Digital Rights Management system, including database infrastructure and core backend services.


📦 Files Created

Database Migration

  • drm_migration.sql - Complete database schema

Tables Created

  1. document_access_sessions - Track individual access sessions

    • Session tokens, device fingerprints, IP addresses
    • Revocation status and timestamps
    • Auto-updating access counts
  2. document_view_tracking - Detailed view analytics

    • Page-level tracking

  3. document_drm_settings - Per-document DRM configuration

Helper Functions

  • check_access_limits() - Validates access based on all restrictions

  • drm_access_stats - Comprehensive statistics

DRM Controller (drmController.ts)

Core Functions:

  • createAccessSession() - Create new access session with fingerprint
  • validateAccess() - Comprehensive access validation
  • trackView() - Log view events
  • revokeDocumentAccess() - Revoke all sessions for a document
  • revokeSession() - Revoke specific session
  • getAccessStats() - Get access statistics
  • saveDRMSettings() - Save/update DRM configuration
  • getDRMSettings() - Retrieve DRM configuration

Validation Checks:

  • ✅ View limits (max total views)
  • ✅ Device limits (max unique devices)
  • ✅ Time expiration
  • ✅ Day-of-week restrictions
  • ✅ Hour-of-day restrictions
  • ✅ Geographic restrictions (country allow/block lists)
  • ✅ Session revocation status

Device Fingerprinting (deviceFingerprint.ts)

Fingerprinting Methods:

  1. Canvas Fingerprinting - Render text/graphics, capture hash
  2. WebGL Fingerprinting - GPU vendor/renderer info
  3. Audio Context - Audio processing characteristics
  4. Screen Properties - Resolution, color depth, pixel ratio
  5. Browser Info - Platform, language, hardware specs
  6. Timezone - Location identifier
  7. Fonts Detection - Installed fonts
  8. Touch Support - Device capabilities
  9. Battery Level - Device state

Key Functions:

  • generateDeviceFingerprint() - Create comprehensive fingerprint
  • getDeviceId() - Get/create persistent device ID
  • fingerprintsMatch() - Compare fingerprints with tolerance

1. Apply Database Migration
