[CSS: Effects] Opacity, Filters, Blend Modes, Clip-Path, Masking & Backdrop Effects — Documentation #91

Description

@ajay-dhangar

This issue focuses on documenting the full CSS Effects module. It helps learners understand how visual effects work in CSS to create cinematic UI, glassmorphism, frosted panels, character cut-outs, floating cards, and advanced transitions.

The following file structure will be covered:

effects
├── opacity.mdx
├── filters-and-blend.mdx
├── clip-path.mdx
├── mask.mdx
└── backdrops.mdx

Each MDX file must include:

  • Clear explanation of concepts
  • Syntax
  • Multiple examples
  • Visual demonstrations
  • UI/UX real-world implementation
  • Best practices
  • Browser notes
  • Common pitfalls
  • Interactive examples using Docusaurus-friendly MDX

# Tasks

Opacity

  • Explain opacity range (0–1)
  • Add examples with UI (card fade, overlay fade)
  • Compare opacity vs rgba transparency
  • Show inheritance behavior

Filters & Blend Modes

  • Document filter() values (blur, brightness, contrast, grayscale, hue-rotate, drop-shadow)
  • Explain mix-blend-mode vs background-blend-mode
  • Real UI examples (image effects, neon glow, cinematic blur)
  • Side-by-side before/after demos

Clip-Path

  • Document clip-path shapes (circle, ellipse, polygon)
  • Explain shape tools and path editors
  • UI examples (diagonal sections, avatars, blob masks)
  • Include animation examples with clip-path morphing

Masking

  • Document mask-image, mask-size, mask-repeat
  • Add examples using gradients & images
  • Real UI (text reveal, image cut-out, decorative sections)

Backdrops

  • Document backdrop-filter effects
  • Examples: glassmorphism, blurred cards, frosted navbars
  • Contrast with normal filter
  • Accessibility best practices

General Tasks

  • Add cross-links to transitions, animations, backgrounds
  • Ensure MDX formatting is compatible with Docusaurus
  • Add visuals and diagrams
  • Add code tabs for HTML + CSS
  • Add real design examples following modern UI trends

Expected Outcome

A complete Effects module covering the most visually advanced CSS features.
Learners will gain the ability to build:

  • Glass UI components
  • Cinematic effects
  • Frosted Navbars
